Crocodile Park/Eye Exam

With Karissa leaving on Tuesday morning early, we had our last few days together packed with not only our busy shift schedules but doing some shopping, and going to the Crocodile Park. Saturday, we went to the Crocodile Park (via motorcycle), and I showed her around (being that I went there last year).
Trust in meeeee...trust in meeeeee.... (From The Jungle Book)
I touched it...It woke up...I jumped...It jumped..It didn't eat me.
One of the largest crocs in the world (so I'm told)
Yeah..he may look hini-hini (slow), pero (but) he is pus-pus kaayo!! (very fast)
Who ever said turtles are slow need to reanalyze that statement--they may not be jaguars, pero, they keep plodding, and this one sure can move!!
They had an incredible FireDance show...with maybe 16 dancers and many different forms of using fire. Thought of you Samuel and Alyssa!! <3..and I have a video!! ;D
We actually went to the Crocodile Park on both Saturday and Sunday (Sunday for the show), because Sylvette's bridal shower was Saturday afternoon...(next post.) ;)

Sunday night, besides shopping before Night Shift (last post), Karissa got new glasses, and the place we went to gave free eye exams, so I got one done for the first time in maybe 4 years! I used to wear glasses, because of a timing problem in my eyes (due to my brain being lodged forward), though I was also around 70-80/50-60 near-sighted.
Ever since my brain got moved back (correcting most all of my weird physical/endocrine problems, except my height ;P), I haven't worn my glasses, but always thought my eyes still weren't quite perfect, and knew my depth perception was sometimes way off.
Karissa's old glasses are similar to mine, except mine have dark frames and are a slightly different shape..kinda fun!!
Anyway, just as I suspected, my vision is 50/25 (R/L eye)-not perfect, but no need in my mind to wear glasses, as consistent use of glasses will only make my eyes lazy. However, I may go back to wearing my old exercise glasses again sometimes... :)... Overall though, it was so good to have an eye exam as an adult versus a child who has eye problems (and wants glasses).
Praise God for His healing!! At least I can drive!!

Summer Update

Wow...it's been a long time since I've written... As everyone knows, the Waldo Canyon fire is long since been under control, and in it's place, the usual summertime fires all around our nation have occurred... Thank God for those who have sacrificed, sometimes everything to protect us...
This last month has been very, very busy for us... Not only did 'cria season' come in full blast, with 11 crias born thus far, 3 of which have been either brown or black (my favorite), but we are only half done... talk about fun!!
Also, instead of spending 3 weeks in the Midwest like originally planned, our family decided to spend those 3 weeks in North Idaho, visiting friends and family, camping, swimming, rafting, huckleberry and u-picking, and then finally sending Rachel off to Singapore for 2 months, where she'll be helping to teach student leadership to college-age kids there.

This week marked the first full week of being 'back' from Vacation, and boy, has it been busy!! I'm back to work as a nanny, house cleaner, and also (and most importantly) helper on the ranch...and now almost have the minimum funds needed to serve in the Philippines for 6 months.

Now down to 26 days until departure, the days are starting to fly by fast, and though there doesn't seem to be much to really do to prepare for leaving, I have realized that most everything I do relates to it in some odd way or another.
I would ask your prayers for Rachel as she serves in Singapore...I am so excited to see what God does through her willing, serving and humble heart over there.

For Thou, LORD, hast made me glad through Thy work: I will triumph in the works of Thy hands. O LORD, how great are Thy works! and Thy thoughts are very deep.

Colorado WildFire Update

The Colorado Springs wildfire is still raging, and has destroyed an estimated 346 homes so far, making it the most destructive fire in the State's history, and one of the worst fires to hit the American West. The fire is now 10% contained, but has cost an estimated $3.2 million to fight.

Some may have also heard of the fire in Northern Colorado, which started a couple weeks ago, killing one person. It has decimated 257 homes, and up until Tuesday (when the Colorado Springs fire surpassed it), was the most destructive State fire thus far. Firefighters are hoping to have the 136-square-mile fire contained by this weekend (it is currently at the 75% mark).

There are also quite a few other wildfires in Colorado at this time, so please continue to pray for all those affected.

Colorado Springs Fire

Please pray for Colorado Springs...they are facing possibly the worst fire they've seen in their State, currently covering over 6,200 acres with only 5% containment. The Flying W Ranch and other homes have been burned to the ground, and over 32,000 Colorado Springs residents are on mandatory evacuation as of last night, with more expected today.
Picture taken from a friend's home in Black Forest, CO on Monday.
We have a friend who's sister is a firefighter down there, and ask for prayers for her, all of those who are fighting the fires, of course all of the Colorado Springs residents.

Life Update

5 months have passed since my last major update, and lots has happened. Namely, we welcomed baby #2 and #3 into our lives shortly after Chri...
